Cemeteriscape 2026 Photo Contest Call for Entries

ENTRY RULES FOR SUBMISSION

The Norfolk Society for Cemetery Conservation – NSCC will be accepting entries for the 2026 Norfolk’s Historic Cemeteriescape Photography Contest & Exhibit from July 13 to September 8, 2026.

Best in Show: $500 2nd Place: $250 Board Choice Award: $50 Gift Card 

The 1st place, 2nd place, and Board Choice winners will be on display along with all submitted photographs at a reception at Forest Lawn Cemetery’s Mausoleum, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 5 to 7 PM.

Norfolk’s Historic Cemeteriescape is designed to raise awareness of the historical, artistic, and cultural value of Norfolk’s historic municipal cemeteries. All funds raised are dedicated to conservation projects in Norfolk’s municipal cemeteries. NSCC invites the public to submit photos using the entry form and following the criteria below:

Photos must be cemetery-related and taken within any cemetery located in the Hampton Roads area. Photos may be in black and white or color. No photo collages or other forms of artwork will be accepted into the exhibit. 

• You may submit up to 3 photos. The submission fee is $25.00 per photograph. Mount and mat your photo in a color mat of your choice. No wood, metal, or plastic-framed photos will be accepted. Printed and matted submissions for display should be dropped off at the Forest Lawn Cemetery office on Tuesdays and Thursdays ONLY from 11 am to 3 pm. No photos will be accepted after September 8, 2026. 

• To facilitate judging, please also submit digital copies of your photographs using the forms below. Individual photograph file size should not exceed 5 MB and be either JPG or PNG format. Title each image with: Last name, first name, title, cemetery name, and location

• Make sure that the name on the entry form is the same person who is paying for the submission fee(s).

• Payment for entries can be made using the PayPal link here and at the bottom of this page. Checks for payment can be made out to NSCC and mailed to David Cacace, NSCC President, at P.O. Box 11446, Norfolk, VA 23517. Only paid submissions received by September 8, 2026, will be judged and displayed. 

NSCC retains the rights to your submissions for future use and sale of photographs.

All photographs will be displayed in the Mausoleum during the event.

By entering the contest, entrants grant NSCC the right to publish, use submitted photos in print or electronic form for advertising and for promotion of NSCC, and for commercial products, including, but not limited to, NSCC publications. Submissions not conforming to the above guidelines will not be considered. NSCC board members, advisors, staff, and their family members may not enter this contest.
