The final phase of the WWA project remains to be completed, and that is to remove the wreaths. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 am is designated as wreath retirement day at Forest Lawn Cemetery. All wreaths must be removed from the graves and placed next to the roads for pickup by the cemetery staff.
Volunteers are again needed to accomplish the removal.  This takes much less time than the canvassing and flagging stages.  Volunteers will gather at the back of the cemetery, close to the maintenance area, and then move on to collect the wreaths.  They will be placed in piles adjacent to the streets in each cemetery section, so the maintenance trucks can pick them up.
It is advisable to wear gloves since the greenery can be prickly. If you have access to a cart or a wagon, they are very useful when collecting the wreaths.
Again, we thank everyone who helped make WWA Day such a success in honoring veterans, and look forward to seeing those of you who are able to assist with this final task.
Reminders:
  • Meeting place – back of the cemetery close to the maintenance building
  • Bring gloves
  • Bring cart or wagon, if available
  • Snacks and water will be provided.
